As promised, we finally got it together to have a contest to give away a nice home bar starter kit. It’s got everything you need to kickstart some experimenting of your own (except the alcohol, you’re on your own with that one). The kit includes:

1 OXO Steel Double Jigger
1 OXO Steel Cocktail Strainer
1 11″ steel bar spoon
1 bottle of Fee Brothers Aztec Chocolate Bitters
1 bottle of ย Fee Brothers West Indian Orange Bitters
1 bottle of HomeSpeakeasy Autumn Spice Bitters
To enter to win, comment on this post and tell us what you’d mix up first with your new home bar kit.
If you want a better chance to win, you can do the following for additional entries (please leave a separate comment for each one we can get an accurate count!):
- “Like” us on Facebook

- Tweet the following: “I entered to win a @HomeSpeakeasy home bar starter kit atย http://bit.ly/AwuH9H“

- Follow our Guide to Drinking in Philly on Foursquare
Remember to leave a separate comment for each thing you do so you’ll get credit!
Next Monday, we’ll make a list of our entries and pick a winner with a random number generator. If the winner doesn’t respond via email within 24 hours (or if they turn out to be some kind of bot), we’ll pick another the following day. US residents only, please.
Thanks for reading, and good luck!
I’d most definitely experiment with mixing a killer ROOT invention ๐
I tweeted the following: “I entered to win a @HomeSpeakeasy home bar starter kit at http://bit.ly/AwuH9H” from my @abstractrandom account
I know it’s not technically the right season for it, but I’m pretty sure I would mix up a classic old fashioned immediately.

Oooh those Chocolate Aztec Bitters are calling my name…perhaps they’d play nicely with the Dogfish Head Chocolate Vodka I have? To make an epic chocolatey cocktail? Yes…that sounds lovely ๐
I follow you on Pinterest and repinned your Root and Rum Nog recipe.

I’d finally drink that bottle of TuB Gin that was given to me as payment for services rendered. ๐
I’ve never had all of the ingredients at once to mix something tasty with this bottle of gin so maybe, if I win, I’ll make your Lemon Poppy recipe:
1 oz (TuB) Gin
1 oz Limoncello
0.5 oz Amaro Abano
0.25 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz simple syrup
1 dash Orange bitters

I’d try and recreate the Golden Thistle that I got at the Ranstead Room a few weeks back. Definitely one of the best cocktails I’ve had! I can’t seem to find a really authentic/reputable recipe for it, but I can tinker!

I would first mix up a simple cranberry and vodka to get the juices flowing in the brain- and then have fun with a cocktail book trying out all my old and new favs
I would make a Sloe Gin Cocktail incorporating the orange bitters.

My first drink with this starter kit would be a traditional Tom Collins!
*With Hendricks Gin ๐
Also, liked you guys on fbook!
I am almost finished reading Boozehound: On the trail of the rare, the obscure, and the overrated in spirits by Jason Wilson. He ends each chapter with a few recipes and my idea is to work my way through each of his recipes.
This means the first drink I would make with my new Home Bar Starter Kit would be a Stinger Royale, which combines cognac, white creme de menthe and absinth.
I have also liked you on FB and shared this contest on FB and tweeted that I have entered the contest (@NicolleMK).
Thanks for hosting this wonderful contest ๐
I now also follow your list on Foursquare.
I’m not sure, but in my first comment, I may have misspelled my email address. The one attached to this comment is the correct one. Thanks ๐

I already follow you on pinterest and just re-pinned the redneck wine glass, which I seriously want ๐
Since that looks like a quality shaker and strainer (re: sturdy), I’d put the set to the test with a drink I could shake to the high heavens– maybe a frothy old school cocktail with eggwhites, like a Ramos Gin Fizz? Or, even better since there are orange bitters, a Round Robin?
[I was already following on FB & Twitter, but I shared an extra link on my Facebook wall for the contest]
I think I would try making something with mezcal, chocolate, and orange
I would look up some yummy vodka recipe on YOUR blog. I like citrus-y but not TOO sweet. Love this giveaway!
